N95 Mask Fitment Testing


Dave Hall of The Academy of First Response recently conducted mask-fitting tests for members of the Fire Department. N95 masks are used to prevent transmission of H1N1 flu, TB, and other air-borne illnesses. To be sure the mask fits correctly, we all had to wear one under a silly looking yellow hood while Dave sprayed in a noxious but harmless vapor. Shown here are Mark Thompson and John Pirkey. Jogging in place (to elevate your heart rate) was one of the components of the test. Dave LeFebvre and Tom Bates demonstrated this in a YouTube video:
